By the Brooke - Field Trip

On Thursday we went on a field trip to a neat little bath & body gift shop in Franklin, TN called By the Brooke. The neatest part is that you create your own scent from over 100 oils (essential oils & fragrant oils) and then they put them into the product(s) that pick. First we had a little lesson on our skin...the various layers, why it becomes dehydrated, how to moisturize & heal it and how the pores get blocked. Then the kids (and moms if we wanted) went out to the work tables and got to start working on creating a customized scent. Morgan sat with her friend, Leah and they worked together. I worked with Alex although he was doing great on his own. Once you create your scent (you write down the oils you want combined) and then take it up to the station where they blend everything. You pick a product (bath gel, body lotion, oils, toners, soap, candles,etc) and you can pick a color (if you don't want it white or clear). Then you relax and watch them work. They package it all nice with tissue paper and gift bags and ribbons if it is for a gift. It was a really neat experience and the kids each got 2 gifts out of it to give during the upcoming holidays.
